The Uşak Municipality Service Building is located to the east of the city center. The design area is situated within an urban transformation zone that embodies the future vision of Uşak. This new urban area, planned for development, holds various potentials. In addition to a strong connection with the existing city center, the river that flows through this area plays a significant role in directing urban design. Accordingly, the urban design prepared for the site creates spatial configurations that are generally related to the existing river. In the creation of these spatial configurations, bridges that connect both banks of the river have become the most crucial elements of the spatial and urban framework.
Usak Municipality Building
The concept for the Uşak Municipality Service Building Project is established to recreate the spatial usage habits of individuals within this newly reimagined urban piece through public space. The aim is to strengthen the relationship between the structure and its site, thereby creating a public building where users can exist without discomfort. To achieve this, the design has transformed the bridge, a key component of urban design, into an integral part of the building, organizing it as a "bridge structure" that contributes to the public life of the city.
The bridge connecting the new municipal square to the building organizes social units at ground level, enhancing the relationship with the river. Additionally, a pedestrian promenade is proposed to connect the design area with the existing city center, thereby integrating the new municipal building, the urban transformation zone, and the old city center. This pedestrian promenade not only forms a strong axis for the new municipal building but also facilitates the establishment of a vibrant public structure that operates both day and night. The ground level, which includes units such as a café, wedding hall, and nursery, has been associated with the river, enriching the building's character. Furthermore, the urban stage linked to the new municipal square enables the square to host various events.
